Today, I am super excited to introduce you to a new company I have recently learned about called Beautycounter. Beautycounter is a company devoted to creating progress in the personal care industry by educating people about the safety of their products. Did you know that there are hundreds of chemicals in the products we use on a daily basis and that many of them are potentially harmful to us? I didn’t know either, until recently. Companies are allowed to use ingredients that are known toxins and are linked to cancer, reproductive issues, and hormone disruption (just to name a few!) without telling us or putting it on their labels. Here in the United States, the federal government has not passed a law regulating the cosmetics industry since 1938. What!? Beautycounter is on a mission to get safe products into the hands of everyone and to make everyone more aware of what they are using on their bodies.
Beautycounter has developed a line of beautiful, effective, and most importantly, safe products, and I recently got together with some of my friends at WICKED to tell them about it! We tried out some products (the Glow Sugar Scrub and Enrich Body Butter were particularly big hits!), ate some delicious food provided by Randy Witherspoon, the genius behind Spoonfed NYC, and talked about our beauty must-haves. Randy is a dresser at WICKED and runs this unbelievable catering business (specializing in southern food! His motto is, “Eat like you mean it, honey!” You don’t have to tell me twice!) and they also make boxed meals for Broadway folks to purchase and enjoy in between shows on a busy two show day. His food is fantastic; for our party, he made sure to include gluten-free and dairy free options because our gang had certain needs. On top of it all, Randy is one of the kindest, most joyful people I know!
