I don’t know about you, but this year (since around March 1st, really!) I have been daydreaming about spending time at the beach. I never realized how much I missed the sound of the breeze and the smell of the ocean until I was landlocked in New York City for a few years, and now all I want to do it sit on a towel with the smell of sunblock on my skin and watch the waves roll! I have a couple of trips already planned for the summer up to Cape Cod and hopefully the Hamptons as well, and my seaside attire is a little lacking. My favorite way of dressing by the beach is airy and easy. Light, flowy dresses and coverups, gauzy pants, giant sunnies and (to my husbands chagrin) big hats for some extra sun protection.
Calypso St Barth Maxi (left) and Ted Baker Coverup. This maxi is so wearable on so many people and perfect for a summertime wedding or with some wedges for margaritas outside with friends. Comfortable, breathable and won’t stick to you when you’ve been out in the sun for a couple of hours!
I am BIG fan of Lilly Pulitzer and feel like her clothes are perfect for the beach and the city in the summer. It gets so hot and humid as the summer heats up in NYC, and after months and months of wearing black and grey, I cannot wait to wear her beautiful colors and prints!
I already have this Lilly Pulitzer top and linen Beach Pants, but I am absolutely planning on picking them up in a new color for this summer. The pants come in a bunch of solid colors and bright prints, so deciding on a favorite will not be easy! And I love the ease of the Calypso tunic; on its own or layered over white pants like in the top-right photo.
Maybe it’s because I am looking extra white after this long winter, but I have been pulled more to some of the pretty one piece suits this year. I love the pretty pastels and roses on this ruffled Ted Baker suit, and I am seeing one of these swing tops and swim dresses in my future. Mott 50 designs stylish and comfortable clothes with sun protection built in! Amazing, right?
And there was no way I was rounding this up without some accessories…
My husband bought a new pair of reflective Ray Bans this year, and I have to admit, I have been a little jealous every time he puts them on! I was’t sure how I felt about them when they first came onto the scene, but I have been loving how people are wearing them and am thinking about adding the blue pair to my sunnies repertoire!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Are you secretly plotting a weekend trip to the beach ASAP? Let’s go!
